Demographic
Most people believe the typical video gamer is a male teenager in his parents basement playing video games all day,
but is it true? From a survey based in Australia (yes i know it may not be the same for the entire world, but it's still somewhat
similar to the US and other First World countries), it seems that the typical stereotype is actually untrue. Although it
is true that most kids play video games ( 94% of all kids from ages 6-15, to be exact), it seems that large numbers of adults and females do to. About 47% of the female population plays video games and the average age for all gamers is 32. Another interesting thing to note is that unlike some people say, not all popular video games are violent shooters. Family games account for almost 20% of the market, and 54% of games sold in Australia in 2011 were for kids, with a rating of G and PG.
